If you head via Bednja, after just a few steps from the Batthyanny castle, you will reach the Sanctuary of the Precious Blood of Jesus, a famous and widely known pilgrimage destination. Ludbreg has been one of the most important and largest Croatian sanctuaries since the 15th century, and it is also special in that this sanctuary was officially recognized by Pope Leon X himself at the beginning of the 16th century. The sanctuary is specific for its architecture, for the fact that it is located outdoors and for the fact that on the holiday of Holy Sunday, at the beginning of September, it attracts a sea of ​​visitors, which turns Ludbreg into a real metropolis with numerous accompanying sacred and (non)sacred contents.
